Watch Lost season 5 episode 7 here!

It's amazing how much more accessible TV episodes are becoming online. I guess no point drives that home more than the current hot trend search term in google right now, watch lost season 5 episode 7.

I really like Hulu.com for my TV fix on the computer, but as far as I can tell they don't have any Lost episodes. Not to worry, I have come through for all.

Enjoy!

Meaning of Ash Wednesday

Christians entering this Lenten season may have a hard time making traditional symbolic sacrifices in an economy that has already taken away so much: jobs, homes, savings, security.

But for some, these tough times are a lesson unto themselves, providing instruction to the faithful that is far more effective than giving up chocolate, booze or Twitter.

''It refocuses one's objectives and beliefs, really,'' said Alda Houser, a clerk at the Holy Family Thrift Store in east Allentown where business has been rising on the tide of the economic meltdown. ''Since you can't be out there as a consumer, there's less distraction and more time for family and friends.''

Lent begins today, Ash Wednesday, and lasts 40 days, until Easter. Reflecting Christ's 40 days of fasting and temptation in the desert, Lent is supposed to turn the gaze of the faithful away from this tumultuous world and toward the promise of the next.

In the early church, Lenten discipline was severe and included lengthy periods of fasting. Today, Catholics and many Protestants traditionally observe the season by sacrificing some pleasure -- a favorite food or activity -- and taking on a new discipline, such as volunteering for charity.

''By giving up something that we like, some small, perfectly appropriate and legitimate pleasure, we are exercising our faith that this life is not all there is,'' said the Rev. William Seifert, pastor of St. Stephen of Hungary Catholic Church in Allentown.

Look at the state of the world this Lent. Some see evidence of divine chastisement not only in the failing economy but in the wars and earthquakes and other wretched news endlessly scrolling across television screens.

''We'd better make it a good Lent. This world needs prayer,'' said Pat Kastelnik of Bethlehem, shopping at the Holy Infancy religious goods store in south Bethlehem. ''The Lord is saying, 'Wake up. Pay attention to your family. Pay attention to me.' Ash Wednesday is about reminding people of their mortality, because when it's over here, it ain't over.''

But the Rev. Patrick Malloy, rector of Grace Episcopal Church in Allentown, said the human toll from the harsh economy isn't coming from the hand of an angry God.

''It's not God's will that people be frightened,'' he said. ''That said, it really does make people ask what's important. But the human misery coming from this is really not of God, I know it's not.''

Malloy said the lesson of Lenten sacrifice ''is not to be miserable but to give up the illusion that anything, in the long run, is going to make us happy. Everything disappears. One of the things the discipline of Lent does is to help you say, 'I will stop running from that. I will try to make peace with it and realize there is a God bigger than all of this.' I don't think of the Lenten discipline as a way to punish oneself but to re-orient oneself to what's really real.''

Houser, the thrift store clerk, also sees a salutary effect in these tough times, ''a correction in the economy and the moral compass of the people.'' But she's still planning to make her usual Lenten sacrifice. ''I give up pasta, because I'm Italian, and that's a big thing,'' she said. ''And sweets. I'll pass anything up, even lobster, for a piece of cake.''

Bob and Betty Boyle of Hellertown, customers at Houser's store, said they no longer fast for Lent -- ''You get to be in your 70s, you're lucky to get out of bed in the morning,'' Betty said -- but they donate time and money when they can.

Bob Boyle said hard times ought to prompt people to be more grateful.

''Times are tougher, no doubt,'' he said. ''But you've got it better than a lot of people. You've just got to look around.''

Engine 2 Diet

Another Diet Book?

So, what is the Engine 2 Diet and why is it burning up in Web popularity? The Engine 2 Diet plan is the brainchild of Texas firefighter Rip Esselstyn. Esselstyn was inspired to write The Engine 2 Diet book when he discovered that one of his fellow firefighters had a cholesterol level that was off the charts. Soon every fireman in the firehouse started following the Engine 2 Diet plan. Impressively, all of them lost weight, lowered their cholesterol and improved their overall health.

Delighted with the results his fellow firefighters were enjoying as a result of following the Engine 2 diet plan, Esselstyn decided to refine the plan and offer it to the public in the form of a book. The book offer readers two plans: one that is mostly plant based, but includes lean animal foods such as chicken and fish, and one that is entirely plant-based.

Billions of Dollars are Spent on Diet Books

This writer finds it astonishing that the diet industry pulls in billions of dollars a year when there is so much free information out there on how to achieve and maintain a healthy body weight. And, besides, for most people, losing weight boils down to two simple strategies: Eat less and exercise more. It's common sense. And common sense is the essence of The Engine 2 Diet plan, for it extols the virtues of eating a diet that is primarily plant-based. Nothing revolutionary is revealed in it.

Diet Fads Come and Go

But new diet books continue to be written and legions of people continue to buy them. Certain diet fads have become so popular that the average citizen could name several of them off the top of their head. There's the Scarsdale Diet, and The South Beach Diet (Bill Clinton tried this one), and The Zone and Sugar Busters! And on and on and on they go.

But America is still the country with the greatest amount of overweight people. What's wrong with this picture? Clearly, knowledge does not necessarily lead to action.

CNBC's Rick Santelli

Today CNBC's Rick Santelli had some strong words about President Obama's new housing plan. Santelli suggested creating a Web site to let Americans vote on the plan and here was his idea:

"...to have people vote on the internet as a referendum to see if we really want to subsidize the loser's mortgages or would we like to at least buy cars and buy houses in foreclosure and give them to people that might have a chance to actually prosper down the road and reward people that can carry the water instead of drink the water…"

Broadcasting from a trading floor in Chicago, most traders around Santelli cheered.

While Rick will be on our show live Friday morning to further discuss,  we asked the question "Is the government promoting bad behavior?"on Twitter and here are a few responses:

@mommyswishlist: @todayshow YES. that is like giving your toddler a cookie for whackin' his brother over the head with his sippee cup.

@alstevens: @todayshow You have to wonder if there isn't a fringe group of people who will fail just to get the help, so yes.

@sglane: @todayshow the gov't has promoted bad behavior on Wall Street already with deregulation over the years. Why stop there?

@kevinpious: @todayshow I don't know if it's promoting bad behavior, but it is reducing the consequences of it. Frustrates someone who pays their bills

@pieceofschmidt: @todayshow I totally agree with Mr. Santelli - it's irresponsible to condone and encourage the behaviors that got us into this mess...

Adam Corolla Fired!?!?!?

Adam Carolla, the radio personality whose “Adam Carolla Show” program took the timeslot once held by Howard Stern on CBS Radio, has reportedly lost his job.

Multiple sources now corroborate reports that Carolla’s radio show has been cancelled and that Carolla has been let go. Some rumors suggest his home station, Los Angeles’s 97.1 KLSX, is preparing to switch from its current talk format to a more top-40-style format. Some speculation suggests the purported change could leave KLSX personality Tom Leykis out of a job as well.

As for the possible format shift, radio gossip site RadioInsight discovered that the domains AmpRadioLA.com, Amp971.com, and Amp971fm.com were all registered anonymously on February 9. Additionally, AmpRadio971.com and 971AmpRadio.com were registered in the name of programming consultant Anthony Acampora about a month ago. (Amp Radio is evidently a youth-oriented format that’s been used in other markets.)

Carolla, interestingly, signed a “multiyear extension” for his “Adam Carolla Show” program at the end of 2007. A CBS Radio exec said at the time that the show had “far exceeded [CBS's] expectations and proven to be a listener favorite,” even adding that he “anticipate[d] even more success for the program in the years to come.”

Representatives from CBS Radio were not immediately available to return our request for comment.

Update (Thursday, 2/19): Everything here is now officially confirmed as true. KLSX will change to “AMP RADIO,” this Friday, February 20, at 5 p.m. That day will mark the final broadcasts for Adam Carolla, Tom Leykis, and Frosty, Heidi, and Frank. Thus far, none of them has discussed their plans for the future.

A-Rod & Yuri Sucart?

New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez apologized Tuesday for his use of performance-enhancing drugs.
Rodriguez held a news conference Tuesday, the first day the Yankees' position players reported to spring training, to discuss revelations he tested positive for steroid use in 2003.

He said he was "curious" and called the injections "a stupid mistake."

Rodriguez said Yuri Sucart, a cousin, injected him from 2001 to 2003 with an over-the-counter product they bought in the Dominican Republic. He had denied using PEDs previously but Sports Illustrated earlier this month broke the story about his positive test.

Daytona 500 Start Time!!!!

The Dayton 500 start time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET on Sunday but that could be pushed back as forecasters have predicted rain would likely fall throughout the afternoon and into the evening.

According to reports the Daytona International Speedway needs about two hours to completely dry and with rain still falling the likelihood of a green flag being waved to start the season-opening race anytime soon is doubtful.

Despite the ominous outlook NASCAR officials remain confident that the sports premier event would be completed on Sunday, even if it was under lights.
